Official Pennsylvania material says the service covers people housed in county jails, state prisons, or under state parole supervision. Crawford County’s own Inmate Lists page now sends the public to VINE rather than offering a county-hosted roster.
Coverage follows the reporting agency. A CCCF result concerns the county booking. A state-prison result concerns PA DOC custody, and a parole result concerns state field supervision. VINE does not replace the UJS docket, which explains the legal order, or the agency’s executed release record, which confirms when staff acted. It also does not cover BOP or ICE custody. Those systems need their own locators.
This Crawford VINE-only route is distinctive. The county’s former Daily Report now returns an error, and its current public page offers VINE instructions instead. That makes VINELink the county’s public one-person lookup doorway, but not a chronological list of everyone released or a permanent county archive.
That access choice also defines what VINELink cannot answer. Crawford County publishes no current 24-hour or 72-hour release feed, no stated retention window, and no county release roster with photos. VINE searches a named person rather than producing a date-sorted list. Someone checking a recent event should use the correct record, then call the jail when the release type or destination is unclear. Someone researching an older event should move to the docket and a focused records request before the VINE result expires.
Note: “Released from CCCF” means that CCCF no longer holds the person; it may still lead to PA DOC, ICE, federal, or other custody.

A “moved” or “transferred” result is not the same as street release. Search PA DOC if CCCF may have transferred the person into state custody. Use ICE ODLS when facts point to immigration custody, or the BOP locator for a federal sentence. The UJS docket can show bail, sentence, or an order, but it may precede the actual jail transaction.
Limits: VINELink can lag, may not retain an old released result, and does not create the certified county, state, court, federal, or ICE record.

The PIN is an acknowledgment tool. It is not an inmate ID, release code, or public record, and it should remain confidential.
Phone registration is available at 866-972-7284, with TTY at 866-847-1298. Operators are available around the clock. If a call is not acknowledged, attempts can continue for 24 to 48 hours or until the PIN is entered. Registration is free and confidential.

The parolee search can use release date, but it is not a complete archive of every person fully discharged.
Federal and immigration custody require separate systems. The BOP locator can show “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody,” which means only that BOP no longer holds the person. ICE ODLS covers current detainees and some people recently released from ICE. Neither database is part of VINELink. A county VINE release followed by another agency result may describe a transfer rather than freedom from custody.
Note: Keep the VINE event time, direct agency answer, and court-order time separate when systems update in a different sequence.

For an old event, VINELink is especially limited. Start with the UJS docket to identify the case, request the filed order from the Clerk, and request the CCCF booking and release transaction. If the sentence entered state custody, use PA DOC records. This chain preserves the legal basis, custody execution, and supervision layer as separate facts.
A focused county request can seek the booking number and date, actual release date and time, release authority or type, and destination or receiving agency where maintained and public. The docket remains separate because court records go through the filing office. Pairing the custody transaction with the order resolves cases where VINE reports an event but does not explain whether it arose from bail, time served, county parole, a transfer, or another lawful route.
